still tracking to the northeast, causing problems for holiday travelers, with delays at newark and laguardia. b i c mix to the west, and continuing to fall across upstate new york and into maine, causing trouble at the latest into the evening hours. the wind on the backside of the storm has caused some worry. we have not changed from the morning hours. we were at 37 and bwi marshall. look where we are now, 39 degrees. strong winds from the northwest has prevented temperatures from rising at all. 42 in annapolis, 37 in gaithersburg and frederick. still in the middle 30's in westminster. the problem with the wind, it makes it feel colder. wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour close to the airport, 24 miles per hour in ocean city. the sustained wind has been anywhere from 20 to 30 miles per hour across the majority of the state. the wind is still whipping around the trees and the power lines. as you are traveling across the area, we're seeing concerns with that as the wind could push the cars around a little bit. hold tight to the steering wheel. temperatures today in the upper 30's

the same for jfk and newark. one of the big reasons, the weather is improving. we're still seeing some low ceilings here but the rain has all but moved out of new york city and those winds which have been the big problem have died down in to the teens so that's really no issue for the pilots here. what is still an issue, though, is the fact that so many people are traveling for the holidays, trying to get home from the holidays or get to the next holiday destination for the new year and unfortunately we have another storm system that's going to be working its way in to the northeast in the next couple of days, just in time for the new yore's holiday so, in fact, we could see more stranded travelers over the weekend in and out of new york city. from la guard yarks i'm meteorologist julie martin of the weather channel. back to you, craig. >> thanks to you. >>> coming up, the latest on former president bush's health after a spokesperson said the former president has suffered a, quote, series of setbacks. >>> plus, new details about senator mike crapo's arrest for drunk driving. it is just one

and 180, jfk, laguardia and newark as of this hour. in terms of the delays we are not seeing them mount as much as we would have thought at this time and one of the reasons that snow not quite working its way into the tri-state area just yet, but we are, nonetheless, seeing low ceilings and visibility issues and certainly wet runways as a result of the storm which will continue to crank along throughout the afternoon and the evening before winding down overnight into tomorrow and really impacting cities like boston which could pick up a foot. i would expect to see major delays for you. here in new york, we are anticipating those delays to continue to climb throughout the evening. one of the good things with this storm, versus the storm earlier this week is the winds are lighter with this so it won't be as much of an aviation problem. nonetheless, if you are traveling you will want to check ahead because we are anticipating anywhere from one to three inches of snow hitting the new york metro area by this evening. >> i remember when i was little and snow was fun. >> reporter: yeah. not wh

's what is making travel so perilous. whether it is the winds in newark or laguardia now or just rain slowing things down, or these winds gusting to 30 in chicago, 23 in nashville, gusting to 45 earlier in indianapolis. it is the winds that are making travel so perilous and so dangerous and impacting the roads and the airports. blizzard warnings here from central indiana to ohio. again, that means the snow coupled with the winds. but look at this, 12 inches, a foot plus of snow possible in western new york. the worst of it tonight until tomorrow in new york state. and then we will begin to see this move out. hefty total of snow. here is the movement as we head toward early tomorrow. you see new york, new york state ensconced in snow. western pennsylvania as well. then by thursday morning, it is still there, and into maine and finally pushes all out. so victor, we're not done with this here. we have another two days, good news all the severe threat coming to an end by tonight and snow still a factor with the winds. >> rough weather on the start of the christmas travel season. rough wea

york, laguardia, jfk. boston as well. laguardia to newark to boston. san francisco has had four-hour delays. now 3 1/2 hours and it is weather-related there, too. ft. lauderdale is having a volume issue. this is the exiting storm, this rain that is leaving. skies are drying out but temperatures will drop precipitously. this is where the travel will really get tough. rochester, buffalo, six to 12 inches of knsnow coming for the. washington, baltimore, clears out for tomorrow and sunday. although it will still be windy. there's the heavy snow in western new york. driving i-90 through the weekend is really difficult. as we head towards sunday, this is the biggest travel headache from seattle all the way down to san francisco. northern california does some very heavy rain and wind for the next couple of days. lisa? >> sounds like everyone is going to have to really be patient as they try to get home for the holidays. >> yes. >> alexandra, thanks. it's not going to be easy but we'll see, hopefully it won't be too much of a travel headache. >> patience is important. lisa, thank you. >

from newark, new jersey on the democratic line. good morning. caller: good morning. thank you, c-span. this is my question. i have been working with washington, d.c., like paul ryan and other people as well on this 20% of taxes on companies in the u.s. ge does not pay 20% eberle, and it was our fault -- does not pay 20% at all, and indeed as ge and a number of other companies. if everyone pays 20%, it would solve this problem. it would solve a lot of other problems as well. in my neighborhood, there are maybe 1000 day workers. they're not getting paid minimum wage. if they got paid minimum wage and they paid 20% stake and federer out of their checks, then they go -- and they paid 20% out of their paychecks, then they would solve a lot of problems. host: do either of these pieces getting to tax incentives to go offshore and then come back? guest: not in detail, but it is an interesting question. there are a lot of people in the business sector who will tell you about -- that people are coming to see that there are many advantages to bringing jobs back into the u.s. one of the conc
